Medical Errors as 3rd leading cause of death?

This headline does not surprise me, does it surprise you? With a healthcare system that merely screens for and treats disease; they should stop calling it healthcare, and call it what it is: disease analysis, treatment and management.

I would like to see the conversation move from disease screening to true disease prevention.

The current healthcare system only treats and screens for disease, so by the time your body is so worn out from lack of function for decades; you finally get diagnosed with a disease. And, I'm sad to say, people are grateful because your "knowing something was wrong for years" has finally been validated. Wouldn't it be great to have a system that can actually address that "not feeling right" phenomena that many get long before a disease is diagnosed? AND avoid disease altogether?

Anyway, I digress ....

The following was copied from the John Hopkins website in an article written in 2016.

"Johns Hopkins study suggests medical errors are third-leading cause of death in United States."

“Analyzing medical death rate data over an eight-year period, Johns Hopkins patient safety experts have calculated that more than 250,000 deaths per year are due to medical error in the U.S. Their figure, published May 3 in The BMJ, surpasses the U.S. Centers for Disease Control and Prevention's third leading cause of death—respiratory disease, which kills close to 150,000 people per year.”
